Using the power of nature
Nowadays, humans and animals are exposed to many chemical products. SolNova's philosophy is to develop products that are as natural and gentle as possible, but which can be compared with recognized effective traditional medicines. The aim was to develop an antiparasitic product for pets that is in line with this philosophy. SolNova believes they have achieved their goal with Amigard Spot-on.
Repellent technology
Unlike pharmaceutical products that act as insecticides or acaricides, Amigard Spot-on does not kill the parasites, but merely keeps them away from their hosts. If parasites have already settled on the host, they are quickly killed, as the parasites find the taste and smell of the active ingredients in Amigard Spot-on extremely unpleasant. In most cases, the repellent effect is so strong that the parasites are deterred from biting the host. Repellents have a dual effect: in the gaseous stage they act on the parasite's olfactory sensors, and on direct contact with the treated skin of the host they also have a repellent effect via the sense of taste.
Insects are known to have one of the most sensitive sensory systems in nature. Insects can perceive odors in minute quantities over enormous distances. The development of these sensory abilities to perceive certain gaseous substances helps insects to find food (i.e. locate the host animals in the case of parasites) and in some cases to mate. Repellents make use of the extremely high sensitivity of insects to certain substances. Antiparasitic drugs have a systemic effect. Insecticidal substances such as fipronil, methoprene or selamectin are introduced into the bloodstream of the dog or cat in sufficiently high concentrations. During the protection period, the concentration level of the insecticide must be kept sufficiently high. If the parasite bites and sucks blood, it poisons itself and dies. Amigard Spot-on, on the other hand, works purely externally and develops its effect from the treated skin. Use biocides with care. Always read the label and product information before use.
The galenic formula
SolNova's own, newly developed galenic formula gives Amigard a high tolerance and an extended long-term effect. The galenic formula uses a proprietary combination of neutral carriers with excellent spreading properties and high compatibility with the skin. The high and rapid spreading effect increases the effectiveness of the active ingredients, as they can develop their effect from the entire body in a relatively short time after application. Studies have shown a significant increase in the effectiveness of our patented carrier compared to conventional systems. The second important property is the product's ability to penetrate the outer layer of the skin (stratum corneum), where it forms a reservoir that releases the substance over a longer period of time and ensures constant effectiveness by slowly releasing the active ingredients. Particular attention was also paid to ensuring that all ingredients are as compatible as possible. Only harmless substances were consistently selected for the formulation. The carrier consists of a combination of esters of natural fatty acids. The product contains d-panthenyl triacetate, the oil-soluble form of vitamin B, as a nourishing and skin-soothing additive. This is an important nourishing additive for skin irritated by pre-existing parasite infestation. No other additives or preservatives have been used. The product contains no known allergens.
Water-repellent formula
The composition has been optimized to prevent the product from being washed off in the rain or when bathing. The active ingredients, such as decanoic acid, but also the other components, are insoluble in water. Amigard is therefore extremely resistant to water.
